Maintenance Technician Responsibilities: The maintenance technician will complete assigned maintenance tasks for the agency and related facilities such as residential & commercial properties. Will perform general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures areas to ensure the best possible working condition.

Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and clear three-year clear driving record

Experience: At least 1 year experience working in a facility, performing building and residential/household repairs, working with people with developmental disabilities a plus.

Qualifications & Skills for Maintenance Technician

  • Demonstrates experience as a maintenance technician in a facility with intellectual/developmental disabilities or long-term care facility
  • Must complete and pass motor vehicle report, criminal background, physical and drug test
  • Physically capable of lifting 75 pounds deliveries of supplies, furniture, various equipment
  • Ability to perform other physical duties required and have adequate mobility that allows for frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in providing various care tasks.
  • Must be able to move, deliver, and assemble furniture to designated homes and main facility.
  • Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers, and small hand tools
  • Working knowledge of tools, common household appliances, and devices
  • Outstanding customer service, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and various virtual software
  • Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to work independently, know or be able to resolve issues to maintain daily operations
    • Must be team oriented and work collaboratively with all staff and clients

Essential Duties

  • Assist Property Manager with general agency maintenance duties.
  • Attend vendor/contractor meetings as needed in person, or via ZOOM.
  • Coordinate and facilitate agency fire drills and onsite service calls.
  • Maintain work and repair orders with vendor receipts of service or sale of equipment/supplies.
  • Complete routine maintenance duties as assigned such as painting, moving furniture, grounds keeping, cleaning of floors, etc.
  • Ability to use all equipment necessary to complete job duties.
  • Maintain safe and clean appearance of office building, parking lots and grounds.
  • Ensure dangerous and unsafe conditions are managed as soon as possible.
  • Assist with parts ordering, restocking, picking up and delivering materials needed for specific jobs.
  • Promotes personal professional growth and development.
  • Assists in the development and achievement of annual departmental goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Assist the Property Manager with various administrative tasks to support department operations as directed; may also be assigned special projects including the set up and preparation of agency events
  • Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
  • Meet on-going requirements to maintain current training certifications.
