Overview:

Indian Creek Foundation's Behavioral Health Services department provides behavioral health supports to children and adults, who have an intellectual or developmental disability and mental health challenges.

Home and community based supports incorporate the use of positive approaches, relationship development, skill building and environmental adaptations to promote positive behaviors. Medication management and psychotherapy promote recovery and symptom management.

Behavioral Consultant Responsibilities:

The Behavioral Consultant will develop and monitor treatment interventions based on data collection and observation; Serves as a consultant to the mobile therapist and to the behavioral health technician, while maintaining direct contact with the family and team members; Acts as a liaison between clinical team, families, and school/community settings.

Education/Training:

Master's Degree or Doctorate in Mental Health or a related field (Social Worker, Special Education, or Psychology). Licensed as a behavior specialist preferred.

Skill(s): Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and leadership skills; excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills; ability to negotiate conflict resolution; ability to facilitate effective team communication; Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis and Functional Behavioral Assessments; Ability to develop individualized treatment plan and crisis plan with measurable goals; Ability to complete clinical assessments; Intermediate PC Skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Software.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year experience providing mental health direct services to children and youth. Prior experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred.

Essential Duties:

  1. Knowledge and implementation of CASSP principles.
  2. Provide behavior consultation services, including behavior therapy, consultation and support to family members, caregivers and teams, in order to stabilize the individual and family situation and to provide transfer of skill to parents/caregivers.
  3. Works all authorized hours in accordance to each individual's prescription for services.
  4. Collaborates with treatment team members in the development of goals and interventions. Write Functional Behavioral Assessment, Behavioral Support Plan, Individual Treatment Plan and Crisis Plan.
  5. Conduct monthly team meetings, and at least six-month reviews/assessments for each child on caseload.
  6. Complete assessment tools and monitor outcome measurement on each treatment goal.
  7. Provide transfer of skill to parents/caregivers through interventions such as modeling, parent coaching and interventions as written in the behavior plan.
  8. Clinically advise the behavioral health technician on behavioral interventions specific to the child/youth.
  9. Maintains communication with treatment team to report obstacles, progress and/or concerns about treatment.
  10. Attends monthly supervision.
  11. Attend trainings required by program/department. Maintain current training certifications as needed for programs.
  12. Participate in special projects as requested.

Standard Requirements:

  2. Completion of drug screen, physical, criminal background check, child abuse clearance, and FBI clearance, with clearance approved; copy of degree and any relevant professional licenses.

  5. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  6. Follows up as appropriate with team members and/or clinical coordinator.
  7. Completes requirements for training and supervision, acceptable attendance, and other work duties as assigned.
