Adult Behavioral Specialist Consultant Overview

Develop and monitor treatment interventions based on data collection and observation; Serves as a consultant to the individual and team, while maintaining direct contact with the family; Acts as a liaison between clinical team, families, and community supports.

Provide Behavioral Specialist Services, including behavioral interventions, consultation and support to family members/team members in order to stabilize the individual and provide transfer of skill to parents/caregivers.


  1. Works all authorized hours in accordance to each individual's authorization for services.

  2. Collaborates with treatment team members in the development of goals and interventions. Write Functional Behavioral Assessment, Behavioral Support Plan, and Crisis Plan.

  3. Conduct team member trainings as needed to support effective implementation of the individual's plan.

  4. Complete assessment tools and monitor outcome measurement on each treatment goal.

  5. Maintains communication with treatment team to report obstacles, progress and/or concerns about treatment.

  6. Attends supervision and contractor meetings as specified.

  7. Attend additional training required by program/department. Maintain current training certifications as needed for programs.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities and/or Mental Health Disorders. Prior experience in Behavioral Health is required.

Education/Training:

Master's Degree or Doctorate in Mental Health or a related field (Social Worker, Special Education, or Psychology).


Skill(s): Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation and leadership skills; excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills; ability to negotiate conflict resolution; ability to facilitate effective team communication;

  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis and Functional Behavioral Assessments; Ability to develop a treatment plan and crisis plan with measurable goals; Ability to complete clinical assessments in a timely manner.
  • Intermediate PC Skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
