General Responsibilities

The Direct Support Professional will provide guidance, support and direct hands-on-care to the individuals served in the vocational, day and older adults programs. Responsibilities include facilitating group and individual activities related to work, leisure, education and well-being. Activities may take place in a structured facility or in the community.

Essential Duties

Provide quality support and care to individuals served and promote their inclusion in the broader community. Assist individuals in advocating for themselves and utilizing their skills, interests and exploring new work, leisure and educational experiences.

  1. Enhance work and/or life skills of assigned individuals in accordance with ISP Outcomes.
  2. Provide individualized attention, which encourages each individual's ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
  3. Teach the appropriate functional skills, ADL skills, and work skills as needed
  4. Teach other instructional time and rehabilitation curriculum (e.g. hygiene, food preparation, communication, simulated work, etc.)
  5. Provide input on progress on goals and ISP Outcomes
  6. Ensure health and safety of individuals served
  7. Attend to personal needs of individuals, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, ambulation range of motion, communication, or other needs in keeping with the individuals' care requirements
  8. Maintain the privacy, and dignity of each individual in the delivery of services to them. Interact with individual in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment through verbal and non verbal interactions.
  9. Responsible for promptly reporting and responding to incidents or evidence of individual abuse or neglect; unusual incidents based on regulations or agency policies; violation of individuals' rights.
  10. Provide assistance to individuals using lifts, transfers and safety techniques as required or needed. Must also demonstrate ability to use mechanical lifting devices and follow proper agency lifting procedures.
  11. Must provide medical assistance to individuals served, such as administering medication, First Aid, CPR, and/or Heimlich maneuver as trained by the agency. Must also adhere to protocols set forth by the Nursing Department and perform these tasks as trained by Nursing
  12. Provide quality control oversight and correction for subcontract and/or in-house work as needed



Responsibilities include providing assistance with activities in daily living, goal achievement, social/recreational activities, training appropriate job skills needed to complete subcontracted work, and assisting in work related transportation. Assisting clients with feeding, use restroom is also required along with operating a 15 passenger van.

Day  Services Program Schedule:  

Hours:    1st Shift ONLY: (Full Time) Monday- Friday:   8:00am-3:30pm

( Part Time ) Monday - Friday:  9:00am - 2:00pm

NEW Pay Rate: $12.00 - 12.25

$1000 Sign On Bonus for all new DSP's 



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Warm, caring, positive personality and take direction well

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a 3-year clear driving record.

  • Must complete and pass criminal background check, physical and drug test. 
  • Must be willing to work in SOUDERTON, PA

  • Experience with home care giving, and individuals with intellectual disabilities  preferred

 Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the physical duties required of Direct Care Worker. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in providing various care; and operate an vehicle. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including transferring of client

Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent.

Skill(s): Ability to read and write in English, moderate mathematics skills required; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; auditory and visual skills; satisfactory completion of post-offer pre-employment physical exam and drug test as required. Completion and clearance of a criminal background check and a child abuse clearance. Has valid driver's license with a clear three-year driving record.
